About Gerri willis

About the Author

Working in television as a correspondent and anchor, as a magazine writer and newspaper reporter, I spent my career reporting breaking news and documenting today's stories. But I became deeply interested in history, after learning my own family's roots went back to the American Revolution. When the Covid pandemic hit, I became committed to sharing the stories of American women who had persisted in tough times and even made history. Elizabeth Van Lew was exactly that, a Southern belle who transformed herself into a Union spymaster, taking unimaginable risks and influencing history! I hope you enjoy her story. She certainly inspired me! (Photo: Robert Milazzo)
